When I tried on my 50s-style dress I knew it was the one for me, and this led to a 50s-themed wedding, writes Sarah Teale. I got my dress from Morgan Davies in Islington. It’s an Alan Hannah dress, very 50s as it’s a short dress and not the norm, which is why I liked it so much. I accessorised it with a vintage 50s necklace and earrings, black cocktail gloves and a vintage bracelet.

Martin wore a tailored single button black suit, an ivory waist coat and an ivory cravat. I had four pageboys, all dressed in old Eton-style uniforms with knickerbockers. My adult bridesmaids wore black Dessy Dora dresses and my younger bridesmaids wore ivory dresses from Debenhams. I had the most fantastic florist, Sally from Halo Blossom, who completely captured what I wanted. I was looking at vintage colours and shapes so we went for cream, peach and dusky-pink.

I had a Vintage Silver Cloud Rolls Royce and the bridesmaids arrived in a matching Daimler from Selway Wedding Cars.

At the church I was sung in by the Sax and Honey jazz duet singing Songbird (Eva Cassidy) and during the signing of the register they sung First time, ever I saw your face. We danced to Stevie Wonder’s Knocks me off my feet.
