We were married after being together exactly 11 months – but Stu actually proposed after just six weeks, writes Michelle Rose. We’re both really into our music – I worked as a freelance rock music photographer for eight years and Stu avidly collects vinyl. We both love the Beatles so we decided to have that as the background theme.

My friend is an artist and he designed the invitations. They had little cartoon-style drawings of me and Stu on the front which were blown up as two large characters that welcomed the guests into the hall.

The choir sang All you need is love while we were signing the register and the table centrepieces were all characters from Yellow Submarine. The chocolate cake was covered in Beatles lyrics and we had a fantastic Beatles tribute band to play in the evening called The Fake Beatles. Stu and I had been on a 10-week course at the Leamington Dance Centre to learn how to dance rock ‘n’ roll – our first dance was Love me do, which was tricky to carry off in a big dress!

We’d hired a stilt-walking Elvis to greet people as they drove down to Moreton Hall for the reception and other entertainment included a fire-breather and sword-juggler from Entertainment for all occasions. We also hired lots of giant outdoor games to keep the kids amused.
