Burlesque Bliss

Alison Clewes and Paul Mockridge had a burlesque wedding against the backdrop of the dramatic Cornish coast. The groom and best man wore frock coats and pink shoes, and the guests were chauffeured about in a vintage bus.

"My dress went down a storm and I was complimented by our band as we looked both old time Parisian and Bette Middler – my work here is done!” laughs Alison. "The pink shoes raised a hoot from the guests and the little old bus was so cute we all wanted to take him home! We danced to Pigs Ear, the band, until the end of the evening then adjourned to the upstairs where we played the hotel piano into the small hours."

"The sea was at its wildest in a force eight with waves pounding against the rocks in Sennen Cove,” continues Alison. "The photographer insisted we went outside, where my dress took on a life of its own, exposing way more than I would have wanted – but after champagne who cares!"

"Paul and I took some time out, walked outside and gazed back in through the pub windows at our friends. It was magical. The pub was built in 1671 with tiny windows and it was like peering back in time to watch a Dickensian evening of music and drinking; all snuggled in the bar of this fishing inn."
