Halloween Heaven
Kevin McDonnell and Angela Ross were wed on 27 October 2007 –
the nearest Saturday to Halloween they could find.
“Angela wanted something a little out of the ordinary for our big
day,” explains Kevin. “She wanted people to remember it for the party
and not just the fact that it was our wedding.”
Fancy dress was more than encouraged, and the front row at
the service featured a bizarre combination of Malice in Wonderland,
Morticia Adams and Superman.
“I had bought Goth jackets from Camden Market for both myself and the best man,” continues Kevin, “and I wore a homburg and lariat tie and suede winkle picker beetlecrushers to complete the look.” “Angela’s dress was a complete mystery – as it should be. The car pulled up and all heads turned to see a six-litre 1937 ZZ top-style hot rod that could shoot flames from the exhaust. Angela was wearing a bespoke black velvet dress and red silk underskirt, and she walked in to Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses.”
The Halloween theme really came into its own at the reception. The couple had decorated the hall with witches and spiders’ webs, and every table had candles, a cauldron and pumpkins filled with sweets.
“We expected the younger kids to get into the swing of things, but it was great to see so many people get into the spirit of what we planned,” says Kevin. “We had vampires, wolfmen and three grim reapers – the best of which looked just like Death from Bill and Ted.”
